Holders of an air traffic controller license are authorized to provide air traffic control services, in accordance with the qualification (s) and authorization (s) of the qualifications listed in their license. The exercise of the privileges granted by the air traffic controller license depends on the validity of the qualifications, authorizations and medical certificate.
Licensing is based on Regulation (EU) 340/2015 and PIAC LCTA ed.6/2018.
Applicants for a trainee air traffic controller license must:
(a) be at least 18 years of age;
(b) hold at least a diploma entitling them to attend a faculty or educational institution of an equivalent level or any other secondary school diploma, enabling them to take air traffic controller training courses ;
(c) have successfully completed the approved initial training, relevant for the qualification and, where appropriate, the authorization of the qualifications, in accordance with Part A of Annex II;
(d) hold a valid medical certificate;
(e) have demonstrated an appropriate level of English and Romanian language proficiency: minimum operational level 4
Applicants for an air traffic controller license must
(a) be at least 21 years of age;
(b) hold a trainee air traffic controller license;
(c) have fully followed an approved training plan within the unit and have successfully passed the appropriate examinations or assessments, in accordance with the requirements set out in Part B of Annex II;
(d) hold a valid medical certificate;
(e) have demonstrated an appropriate level of English and Romanian language proficiency: minimum operational level 4
