Bucharest May 8 - On the second day of the Summit, an exercise took place that simulated a cyber attack on an important regional airport, considered to be a network of networks and services.
Specialists from ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization), the Romanian Civil Aviation Authority, the representative of Finland and the International Council of Airports contributed to the elaboration of the scenario and its development. The objectives of the practical application were: the way in which the decision-making process is carried out in crisis situations, the ways in which losses can be reduced and the resilience of the systems within an airport.
The conclusions and lessons learned will be presented to the participants in the plenary session tomorrow, May 9, and will represent the Summit's contribution to good practice, relevant to cybersecurity, which ICAO wishes to transfer to civil aviation personnel and to integrate them in the norms and regulations specific to the field. The novelty of including a practical exercise in the program of this Summit will bring added value, through the conclusions that the specialists in the field of cybernetics and civil aviation, present in Bucharest, will present at the closing of the event that will take place tomorrow, May 9, 2018.
Also today, the ICAO Summit "Cyber Security in Civil Aviation - Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA)" discussed the current and future perspectives in the field of information security, including research in some ICAO Member States. , projects involving Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Aircraft manufacturers, research scientists and regulatory experts have shown the prospects for cybersecurity challenges.
At the same time, there was talk of the European vision on cyber security strategies and how the future directive on networked information systems will be structured, on the efforts made by EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) to promote the sharing and coordination of cyber security incidents. , as part of the European Center for Cyber Security in Aviation (ECCSA). In parallel with the works at the Parliament Palace, a mini-summit of young people took place, hosted by the Military Technical Academy, attended by students from this educational institution, students of the Air Force Academy and the Bucharest Polytechnic University.
Dr. Fang LIU, representatives of ICAO, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Education, Romatsa, the Military Technical Academy and the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, were members of the sections of this meeting aimed at preparing the next generation and attracting youth to work in civil aviation.
