The Romanian Aviation and Air Force Day is celebrated, every year, on July 20, when the Holy Prophet Elijah Tesviteanul, the spiritual protector of the pilots, is celebrated. On June 17, 110 years ago, Aurel Vlaicu made the first complete flight with an airplane of his own design on the territory of our country. On Saint Elijah's Day, the military aviation carries out its combat aircraft, as well as the transport ones, in the sky of Bucharest. Thus, the Air Heroes Monument in Aviatorilor Square will be flown over by military aircraft from the Romanian Air Force, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Romanian Intelligence Service, civil aircraft from the Civil Aviation School and the Romanian Aeroclub under the Ministry of Transport, a transport aircraft passengers from the Tarom endowment, the aircraft of the independent aerobatics team Iacării Acrobati, as well as civil aircraft from the endowment of the Elie Carafoli National Institute for Aerospace Research and Development.
