SESAR is a research and development program in the field of ATM created under the auspices of the European Commission in early 2007. In close correlation with the targets set in the Single European Sky, the aim of this program is to ensure the modernization of the European ATM system by coordinating and concentrating. all efforts under research and development programs at Community level.
The main objective of this program is to eliminate the fragmentation of the European ATM environment and transform it into a unitary one. For the first time, all aviation entities are involved in the phases of defining, developing and implementing a pan-European aviation modernization project. This project aims to develop a new generation of ATM systems capable of ensuring safe and smooth air transport for the next 30 years and supporting the traffic growth forecast for this period.
